The healing process is complex. Our bodies are designed to be able to heal themselves. However, there are actions that we must do for the healing to take place in the most efficient and effective ways. This article is intended to empower you to take action and help your child to be able to move forward with their recovery, healing, and thriving.

There are ways to accomplish all of the following without your child feeling left out of fun or treats. I have done all of the following and more over the years for my son, who is now sixteen, and is happy and thriving beautifully. You can read his story HERE. Remember that you need no special degree or certification to support your child's health and recovery in powerful ways. You are the parent and they need you to do this for them. Doctors treat symptoms. When you are going for actual healing, a more holistic approach can be more effective. Sometimes this means using a combination of allopathic and natural treatments. Remember your power - you have more than you may realize. When I started helping my son, I had no training or skills in natural health and healing, and yet I jumped right in and did what I could as I learned along the way. You can do this, too. I hope that my sharing the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years can help to make your and your children's journeys easier than ours.

#1 - Do Everything You Can to Keep Chemicals Away from Your Child
Sensitive people’s bodies have difficulty processing and detoxifying chemicals and other toxins. Unfortunately, there are multitudes of them in our air, water, and food supplies. However, there are many things you can do to keep extra chemicals away from your child’s body. This eases the toxic burden they have to deal with and allows for healing to take place. It also allows for their bodies to return to and maintain a state of balance and homeostasis more gently. The more the body has to detoxify, the worse your child will feel. Here is how you can do this:
- Keep all artificial colors, flavors, and sweeteners out of your child’s diet.
- Use natural cleaning products in your home.
- Use natural body products for bathing and shampooing.
- Avoid using chemical sunscreens and bug repellants on their bodies.
- Feed them an organic diet: Avoid GMOs and conventionally grown foods.
- Avoid using herbicides and pesticides in and around your home. There are companies that make natural pesticides that use essential oils.
- Have them wear clothing made of natural materials and avoid clothing treated with flame retardant chemicals.
- Avoid purchasing new furniture unless it is necessary – foam and particle board contain toxic chemicals.
- Use natural products rather than synthetic medications whenever possible. Do your research, there are essential oils, herbs, and foods that contain antibiotic and antiviral properties.
- Give them water that is purified and contains no added fluoride.
- Keep all cigarette, e-cigarette, cigar and other smoke away from them and the home.
- Use an air purifier in the home.
- Avoid all unnecessary vaccination.
#2 - Support Their Bodies with the Best Nutrition You Can Provide
What kids eat is a vital piece to them being able to thrive. Here are some action steps you can take to support your child’s well-being. Be consistent. If your child attends school, make sure to send snacks, water, and food from home each day. If there will be treats given at school, send your child with food you have prepared from home that is safe and healthy to eat.
- Feed them whole foods rather than processed foods.
- Avoid sugar and grains, which stress the body and cause inflammation. Be consistent with this. Absolutely avoid all gluten containing grains.
- Keep foods away from them completely that they are allergic or sensitive to.
- Cook and prepare their foods at home to avoid chemicals and processed foods used in restaurants.
- Give them plenty of pure water to drink and avoid sodas, energy drinks, processed fruit juices, and large quantities of cow’s milk.
- Learn how to cook and bake clean foods that will keep their blood sugar stable and provide them with clean energy. Search on the Internet for Paleo recipes and then tweak them as you need to for your child’s dietary needs.
- Provide them with a high-quality multi-vitamin/mineral supplement that contains the correct form of vitamins and minerals. Look for supplements designed by doctors who are experts in nutrition. All supplements are definitely not created with the same quality.

#3 - Support Them Through the Detox Process
In the beginning, their bodies will have to go through a cleansing process as the chemicals are detoxified. Sometimes they may appear to be struggling even more than before. This will pass. The more chemicals they have been exposed to over time, the more they will have to detox. Here are some things you can do to make the detoxification process more efficient and less unpleasant:
- Use activated charcoal, zeolite, or other gentle binders on a regular basis to pull the toxins out.
- Have them soak in a tub with warm water and Epsom salt.
- Give them freshly juiced green vegetable juices to drink.
- Make sure they get outside into nature to breathe plenty of oxygen.
- Have them do physical activity that causes them to sweat.
- Make sure they get plenty of rest and drink plenty of clean, pure water.
